[USA] Hazon Shechita debate continues
Peter wrote:
"Others, living in a dream world, will claim that baby
steps toward meaningless goals will do the trick."
Actually, this person living in the real world does assert that INCREMENTAL steps toward MEANINGFUL goals will CERTAINLY do the trick.
And such steps can become more persistently effective over the long-term than going Cold Turkey.
In order to enlighten you readers, here are a pair of extreme cases of going Cold Turkey:
1. The extremely severe withdrawal symptoms resulting from going Cold Turkey on psychoactive drug benzodiazepine.

A long shocklist list of dangers no doubt.
Naturally, the sudden Cold Turkey halting of a carnivous kosher diet will NEVER or rarely cause such withdrawal symptoms as are described here.
My point through all these is that a more GRADUAL reduction in eating meat can be just as effective, if not more so, in reducing our meat-eating habits than is going Cold Turkey.
In this light, I commend Hazon's commitment to reduce comsumption of meat by 50% by 2015 and reject Peter's assertions and challenges condemning such efforts.
