Two "official" references for the Good Cop/Bad Cop social-approach
1. The 'Good cop/bad cop' Wikipedia found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_cop/bad_cop
2. The wiseGEEK 'What is Good Cop, Bad Cop?' found at http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-good-cop-bad-cop.htm
On the individual or personal level
The Good Cop
- Consistently approaches you with Warmth
- Consistently communicates with you
- Engages you
- Is fairly straightforward with you; readily acknowledges whether or not he/she has significant decision-making ability
The Bad Cop
- Consistently attempts to demand unquestioning respect from you for whatever he or she carries out
- Consistently attempts to avoid communicating with you except where this is not possible
- Ignores/ostracizes you
- When confronted, tries to put you in your place with threats/accusations, shouting you down, getting angry, putting on a nasty face, ... etcetera
I know a number of "Good Cop and "Bad Cop" individuals even within the local Berkeley Jewish Community.
How does Good Cop/Bad Cop translate itself into the much larger scale in the World Forum(s) when other nations approach Israel with attempts to extract concessions??
Is this, in effect, some weakly-effective International Strategy??
When and how will this Strategy backfire??
